Blah Blah Sick Day Blah

Today I did nothing.  Well nothing but suffer from a terrible sinus headache and sit around and lay around and sleep waiting and hoping for it to go away.  I took sinus pills and headache pills.  Some days your snot passages just take over and can be relentless.

If anyone out there did the same thing as me today then Yay Team Sinus Hell!  Wait no... not yay.  This sucks.  You are not alone.  Stock up on a good aloe laden tissue for your tender little nose.

Much love!

Single Blonde Girl vs. Grocery Shopping

Being single for the first time in almost 13 years or so has it's many perks and few challenges.  One such challenge has been retraining myself on grocery shopping.  Anyone who has always shopped for one person is probably thinking 'oh that's easy'.  For me it is getting easier for sure.  I rarely eat out, I am such a spend thrift that I find it much cheaper to make my own meals and besides that I just enjoy cooking.  So when I am shopping it is for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I used to do what I call Armageddon grocery shopping.  Every two weeks on payday I'd go and stock up on everything in the world that the household may possibly need for those two weeks.  Why every 2 weeks?  Payday always fell every two weeks.  I was hauling in enough food to fill the pantry, cupboards, refrigerator, freezer and deep freezer, as well as other necessities such as cleaning supplies and personal hygiene.  When I was with my ex-husband and his younger teenaged brother lived with us the bulk discount stores were definitely my friend, it is truly amazing how much food 2 young men can pack away.  And when I was in my second domestic living family situation where there were two young children again I was amazed at how much food 2 little girls can pack away!  And let us not forget toilet paper.  What in the world do they do with the toilet paper?

One of the downfalls of continuing to bulk shop in my current living situation is that my apartment is not located super close to the parking lot.  So making 13 trips with grocery bags to Narnia is not the funnest thing in the world to do.   After the first time I went and did my normal 2 week stock up trying to guess what I would need for only me and any possible visitors and I did those several trips back and forth from the parking lot to my apartment bringing everything in I knew that I had to figure out a better system.

After trial and error over the months I think I've got it down, finally!  I now know exactly how much food I consume on my own.  I've always taken a list when I grocery shop to streamline my process, and it's amazing that my list is so short now after being so used to shopping for so many people.  My biggest friend is the tiny version of the shopping cart that my preferred grocery store now has.  It's wonderful!  It has two tiny baskets and whatever fits in those tiny baskets ends up being one trip to the apartment from the parking lot.  I also have changed my routine of biweekly grocery shopping to now shopping once a week and get everything I need just for that week.

Now that I've gotten this down some hunk of an awesome man is probably going to fall into my lap, undoubtedly with 9 children and a younger brother and an uncle and 16 dogs that live with him, bringing me a whole new challenge of retraining my shopping habits.  But I'm always up for a good challenge. ;)

Much love!

Beware Of Fuzzy Muffins

Due to the upcoming holiday, Halloween, my department at work is in a buzz and scheming and decorating for an annual decoration contest.  I happen to think that my area is going to win since we are definitely awesome.  In the midst of putting up a giant Grim Reaper, hanging black tarps from ceilings around cubicles, putting up skulls and tomb stones… I forgot about my wonderful coffee on my desk!
I sat down after about an hour and a half of creativity and took a sip of my coffee out of my silly plastic thermal mug that I gave way too much credit to and it was cold.  ICK!
I then venture to the kitchen which is shared between my department and another department on our floor of the building.  Someone from the other department (the enemy mwahaha, kidding) has been bringing in baked goods all week and leaving them on the counter in the break room. I’ve been afraid to touch the cookies and other goodies due to not having a clue to who cooked them and not knowing what their hygiene habits are. (I may be a bit of a germ-a-phobe).
I put coffee mug in microwave to reheat the cold coffee and restore it’s delicious status.
Waiting…
Waiting…
Notice… BLUEBERRY MUFFINS!  Mmmm Muffins…
Wonders if I should make an exception and eat muffin from unknown baker…
Looks a little closer…
It’s not blueberry!  IT’S MOLD!  GROSS!
I go and exclaim to people “do not eat the fuzzy muffins in the break room”… if you are giggling like an idiot you aren’t the only one.  We’ll call my mold nickname wordage today’s Blonde Moment.
I am thankful for my aversion to sticking random unknown food in my mouth without really investigating it.  However the muffin container was huge and there were only 2 left and a coworker told me they had seen there were at least 20-30 this morning.  I really have no words to express how freaked out and grossed out I would be to know I ate a moldy muffin.
Next time you see random free baked goods sitting and waiting for your consumption look before partaking, you just might be happy to turn that sweet treat down.
Much love!

Dogs And Their People

I was walking to the dog park at my apartment complex with the most awesome dog ever, Balue.  As we were going in a man and his dog were coming out.  He was a large man about 6 feet tall, short buzzed haircut and had several tattoos.  With the image of him in mind what kind of dog are you picturing as his walk along buddy?  Possibly a Rottweiler, Pit-bull, Boxer, or maybe even a German Shepherd?  Nope, this gentleman was doting on a tiny fluffy Pomeranian.  Two questions came to mind at the sight of this: Is this his girlfriends dog?  Or is he just a big tatted up softy with a gooey center who likes to cuddle?

Being a ditzy blonde girl you would possibly think I'd have some small fluffy creature such as a Pomeranian, Poodle or Shih Tzu.  Not me!  Balue is a beautiful mut.  An 80 pound Siberian Husky and Labrador Retriever mix.  As I patiently waited for Balue to do his running, sniffing and other doggie deeds I was reflecting on how much alike we are:

We both love animals.

We both enjoy a good nap.

We can definitely throw down with the stank eye when we are agitated by something.

And we are both pretty goofy at times.

Those of us who have chosen a dog as a companion know the joy they bring us.  I wouldn't trade this guy for the world.  Stop and think about how much you have in common with your fuzzy friend who undoubtedly gives you limitless amounts of love and give them a hug... or maybe they'd appreciate a bone a little more. ;)

Much love!

**If you are looking to add a smelly, hairy ball of joy to your life do not forget to check with your local animal rescues and shelters. Lots of lovable friends are waiting for a good home.

Sleepless in Blondeville

I’ve always had this habit of staying up too late.  Then sleeping in too late and having to rush around and get ready for work at warp speed and cruising in and landing in my chair at work right as the toll sounds 8 am (or in school age years barely making it to the bus stop in time, if I made it on time).  However this has made me a pro at super fast getting ready and I can say I’m not a high maintenance girl who takes f-o-r-e-v-e-r primping and prodding.  It’s simple – shower, hair, makeup, clothes , pat the dog on the head, run out the door – bam bam bam!
(Wow I just got the Greased Lightening song stuck in my head for some reason… you too now?  Yep you are welcome for that.)

In my early adulthood I used to be able to stay up until 2 am and then wake up around 5 or 6 am and actually function throughout my day.  I have moved my wee morning bedtime to being in bed by at least 11pm or 12am at the latest (during the work week at least).  There is just something about working all day and not being able to start my “real” day at home until 5 or 6 pm.  I feel almost robbed if I do not get several hours of relaxing and doing something besides sitting at work.  I do not think I could stand it if my life became a constant rotation of only working, eating and sleeping for 5 out of 7 days of the week.

Now that I’m in my 30’s my body is demanding that I sleep.  For the past couple of years I actually take naps on the weekend, I was never able to take naps before.  I’ve learned to truly appreciate a great nap and do not understand why I was reluctant as a young person to not listen to the wisdom of my elders and go to sleep in the middle of the day.  If only naps were required during the work day here in the USA I would be in heaven.  My dog, Balue, is the best nap buddy ever.  Even my iguana, Sebastian, thinks so.

(That tiny kennel is not Sebastian's cage, we were in the middle of a moving transition until his huge habitat was rebuilt.)

There’s really no point to anything you just read.  I’m just sitting here bones hurting, eyes drooping, guzzling coffee and hoping that I actually wake up soon.  My eyes may be open but my brain has not activated yet.  Maybe you are the same way, I’d like to say that one day we’ll actually learn to force ourselves to go to sleep at a decent hour… but in all honesty there’s probably no hope for us, and I’m ok with that.  =)
Much love!

To Honk or Not To Honk?

If your brakes have gone out in your car and you are sliding into a peril that will assuredly end in fiery death... yes please honk.

However, if you are like the person who was sitting behind me in the parking lot exit when leaving work this evening, and you are wanting to turn right at the red light when the person in front of you is turning left, completely ignoring that there are 2 other parking lot exits that are right turn only exits and this happens to be the only left turn capable exit... keep your honking to yourself. Unless the person in front of you, unlike me, is a complete pushover they are not going to decide to just turn right because you are honking and in a hurry and decided to not use one of the other exits that could have streamlined your work departure process.

If you see a completely hot man or woman and want to get their attention for a little meet-up rendezvous because their awesomeness from a car away has completely captivated you... go ahead and honk. Perhaps you'll be getting your freak on later.

But, if you are like the person who was in front of me at another red light this evening and 2nd in line at the light and as soon as the light turns green and the person in front hasn't even had a chance to press their gas pedal yet... there's no reason to blare your horn. Really.

On the flip side, if the last scenario ends up being the person in front of you is just sitting through the light and you and every one else behind you are about to miss the light because the person ahead is being a complete moron... lay on it!

When using your horn of equally life saving and utter annoyance abilities perhaps the use of a little common sense could go a long way.

I told my dog Balue about this evenings honkapalooza and this is what he thought about it...

He captures the state of annoyance such things can cause so well doesn't he?

Much love and honk responsibly! :D

Have no fear... I'm now here.

How many first time posts in new blogs have you read that started out with “I’ve started blogs before but lost track….” ? I will not elaborate as to not sound like a broken record, but right here I could insert same story, same song, same dance, but since we can skip that it will make this a nice short read for you this round. =)

I love blogging. Sometimes it’s just good to start fresh and new and fire up a new blog. I’m new to this site, however I’m finding it simple to navigate and use. Yay me! I’m so above the learning curve here, sometimes it’s truly good to be me. ;p

So I’m here in your face and I’m blogging. I never have a lack of opinions and observations. Perhaps you will agree or you won’t, that’s the beautiful part of being human, we are all so different and entitled to be who we are. =D

Being a person of blatant bluntness I love this little website www.bluntcard.com. Being someone not easily offended by cussing, sarcasm and sexual innuendos I find it fantastic. With that being said I must leave you now because…

Much Love!
