The Next Day

So yesterday was my birthday as I mentioned in my post Birthday Blessings 2011.  First business of the day, I tried to drive to Walmart to get a futon however realized that there was no way to fit it in my little car.  I then tried to drive home before my friend was supposed to be there, I find that half of Gainesville, ok I exaggerate, just a huge part of University Avenue had been blocked off for the Gator Homecoming parade.  I was thinking 'NOOOOOOO', I then proceeded having to drive down side roads for detours through residential neighborhoods.  This was a maddening thing, well could have been, but I kept hope that I'd eventually make it through this traffic jungle of people trying to find parking places, and people charging $5-15 a car to park on the grass of their yards, and my urge to just start bypassing the traffic and driving through yards and barreling through fences with my little car.  Luckily I had awesome music to keep me sane.  I finally found my way through to a major road, after an hour.  It took me longer on the detour to find a major road to get me home than it took me to drive to Walmart and go in and find the futons and talk to sales person and decide that it wouldn't fit in the car.  Oh and to stop and look at awesome televisions that I cannot afford.  Fortunately this detour was the only odd moment of the day.

My friend arrived and we had a great time.  He happens to drive a giant beautiful pickup and took me to get the futon - yay!  Definitely one of those times to take a moment and thank God for Southern men and their pickup trucks.  We hung out watched movies, ordered food in, took shots of the super delicious Pucker Vodka citrus... it was all great!!  I spent the day doing basically nothing and I loved it!  In the past when I've had a birthday party I always ended up having to do way more work than any birthday girl should have to.  So it was awesome that I could actually sit back and relax and just enjoy having company for the day and no drama either.  The older I get the more I just try to find that elusive zen state, and yesterday was pretty close.
Balue has decided the futon was purchased for him.

I woke up too early though, and went to bed late, and woke up again today too early.  So what did I do the day after my birthday?  Well I napped... fantastic!!

Much love!!

Nudist Neighbors

Sunday afternoon I took a fantastic nap.  I woke up at one point because my dog was talking in his sleep, I look at my clock and see I've been down for an hour and decide I better get up so I'll be able to fall asleep at a decent time that night.

I get out of bed kinda stumble into the wall, wipe the sleep out of my eyes, tired, trying to focus, trying to wake up and think a nice hot shower would be the perfect thing to wake me up.  I toss off the clothes I was napping in, walk out of my bedroom into the living room eyes closed and stretching and suddenly remember that before I had laid down I had opened the blinds to every window and the sliding glass door...

I remembered this is what I had done because when I opened my eyes I'm standing there being showered in sunlight and a neighbor is walking past my sliding door catching full view of my nakedness.

Luckily he did not die of fright and I did not have to call an ambulance.

Not too long ago this happened to one of my other neighbors, he walked out of his bathroom naked and I was walking past his window and see him flying to the window to close the blinds likely hoping that I didn't see his manly naked body... Oh I did.  I wrote a quip on Facebook that morning making fun of him and saying that people should close their blinds before getting naked.  This is what I get for being a smart-ass.

Up until this my most humiliating naked moment was when I lived in the country and, again about to take a shower, ran outside to my car to grab something I had forgotten and the Great Dane that I had at the time decided to try and come outside too and locked me out when trying to open the door with her mouth on the knob.  Luckily no one saw me, as far as I know, up on a ladder, naked, trying to get in through a window.

This morning as I was walking to my car I saw my neighbor that caught me in my birthday suit and he gave me one of those creepy guy smiles.  I'm not sure what base flashing is but from that smile I'm thinking he hit a home run with himself later.

This seems to be a trend with me and unfortunately it's probably not the last society has seen of my nudity.

Much love and be kind to your epidermis.

Sleepless in Blondeville

I’ve always had this habit of staying up too late.  Then sleeping in too late and having to rush around and get ready for work at warp speed and cruising in and landing in my chair at work right as the toll sounds 8 am (or in school age years barely making it to the bus stop in time, if I made it on time).  However this has made me a pro at super fast getting ready and I can say I’m not a high maintenance girl who takes f-o-r-e-v-e-r primping and prodding.  It’s simple – shower, hair, makeup, clothes , pat the dog on the head, run out the door – bam bam bam!
(Wow I just got the Greased Lightening song stuck in my head for some reason… you too now?  Yep you are welcome for that.)

In my early adulthood I used to be able to stay up until 2 am and then wake up around 5 or 6 am and actually function throughout my day.  I have moved my wee morning bedtime to being in bed by at least 11pm or 12am at the latest (during the work week at least).  There is just something about working all day and not being able to start my “real” day at home until 5 or 6 pm.  I feel almost robbed if I do not get several hours of relaxing and doing something besides sitting at work.  I do not think I could stand it if my life became a constant rotation of only working, eating and sleeping for 5 out of 7 days of the week.

Now that I’m in my 30’s my body is demanding that I sleep.  For the past couple of years I actually take naps on the weekend, I was never able to take naps before.  I’ve learned to truly appreciate a great nap and do not understand why I was reluctant as a young person to not listen to the wisdom of my elders and go to sleep in the middle of the day.  If only naps were required during the work day here in the USA I would be in heaven.  My dog, Balue, is the best nap buddy ever.  Even my iguana, Sebastian, thinks so.

(That tiny kennel is not Sebastian's cage, we were in the middle of a moving transition until his huge habitat was rebuilt.)

There’s really no point to anything you just read.  I’m just sitting here bones hurting, eyes drooping, guzzling coffee and hoping that I actually wake up soon.  My eyes may be open but my brain has not activated yet.  Maybe you are the same way, I’d like to say that one day we’ll actually learn to force ourselves to go to sleep at a decent hour… but in all honesty there’s probably no hope for us, and I’m ok with that.  =)
Much love!
